2.5 Liter Class

The 2018 season will certainly be the most competitive since the class was split into 2 distinct categories. The arrival of two renowned American drivers will only increase the quality of the HRL’s 2.5-liter fleet.

Doug Martin (S-33) and Scott Liddycoat (S-63) join the ranks of the class after winning several championships south of the border. Doug won the world championship in Valleyfield in 2008. As for Liddycoat, he was named Rookie of the Year in H1 Unlimited a few years ago and will be on the HRL circuit at the wheel of the old Lil ‘Lectron owned by the legendary Willard Wilson. These two American drivers will however have to be wary of some Quebec drivers who will be hungry for victory in the coming season. We are talking here about Tommy Shannon (S-4) who will drive the old S-757, which was very competitive last year. This hull belonged in the past to Mike Monahan, Marc Theoret, Sylvain Maheu, Remy Leblanc and Eric McKenna.

And keep your eye on Philippe Cardinal (S-222) will also be in the hunt, he who had a good end of the 2017 season. It will also be interesting to see how Derek Demers (S-44) will perform after his crash in Brockville last July. As for Stéphane Joannette (S-107), we hope to see him perform well at the wheel of a new hull.

Do not forget Frederic Couturier (S-313) who, with a bit of luck, would have been crowned champion of the last season leading the championship with 1 race weekend to go.

Still among Quebeckers, Andrée-Anne Bergeron will be the only driver of (S-18) this year, she who made her debut last year. Once again, Kevin Smith (S-26) will be in the hunt for victory as every year. Yves Villeneuve (S-6) and Derek Anderson (S-16) are also expected to be in the thick of things in each of their outings.

Other newcomers include Richard Wilhelm (S-404) with a recent hull. Finally, Ryan Slate (S-49) will make his debut in the hydroplane racing, he who competed in rowing before.

The table is set, may the best man or woman win!
