A pioneer of class 145 in Canada, Russell Haworth was the first Salaberry-de-Valleyfield resident to buy a hydroplane, in 1965. Becoming the world champion in this class gave Russell the nickname of Mister 145. He was also recognized for his work as a boat builder, most notably on John Crompton’s Lone Star and Daniel Brossoit’s Pixie III.

In 1994, to celebrate his exceptional career, the Régates de Valleyfield organization named him the Schenley Personality of the year and gave him the title of honorary Commodore.

  • Valleyfield Cup – Grand Prix

The Grand Prix class is the main attraction of the Régates de Valleyfield. No other class could create the same feeling for the Valleyfield crowds, which have always kept a special place in their heart for the GP 444, Long Gone, Deep Water Special, Miss Danash and Super 7, and their talented pilots, who have all left their mark on the North-American circuit. In 2007, the organizing committee listened to the fans’ demands and reinstated the crown jewel of motor boating.
